Welcome to the Winter Solstice

Welcome to the Winter Solstice

Today, Thursday Dec 21st marks the winter solstice, which leaves us with the least amount of sunlight of any day of the year. Here in Charleston, SC we’ll have about 10 hours of sunlight, but other areas will have a lot less; In Oslo, Norway they will have just under 6 hours with their sunrise at 9:18am and sunset at 3:12pm. During the summer solstice this past June, they had just under 19 hours of sunlight with their sunrise at 3:53am and sunset at 10:43pm, now that’s a long day!

As the sun is setting today, people will turn on their Holiday decorations to celebrate the season with candles, bright lights, menorahs and more! As you’re turning your lights on, or lighting candles tonight, take a moment to reflect on this past year and everything that it brought to you.

We’re shutting down the office today and taking the next few days to spend it with our family and friends to celebrate the season.

We hope you had a wonderful Hanukkah celebration, and we’re wishing you a very Merry Christmas, Boxing Day, Kwanza and best wishes in the New Year!
