Accounting Practice Insights – Top 4 for 2017

2017 was another exciting year for Poe Group Advisors.  Thank you for your continued readership and support.  Our biggest success this year was that we reached an all-time high listing volume. Many came late in the season so we have great inventory going into 2018.  A lot of our best practices again came to us through referrals and word of mouth.  For that, we are so grateful.

We created a lot of collaborative content in 2017 and two of those pieces ended up being our most read posts for the year.  If practice growth is one of your 2018 resolutions, you owe it to yourself to read the entire column we did with Rob Siegfried on growth and leadership.  Rob started a CPA practice from scratch and has grown it into a top 100 national firm – so it’s packed with golden nuggets of hard-earned wisdom.

How to Grow Your CPA Firm

As mentioned, this is a must read for anyone serious about growth or seriously interested in leadership.  This column grew from a conversation Rob and I had at a conference in California that started out when we were discussing the natural growth pain points that almost every owner experiences.  Rob came up with some unconventional ways of dealing with these!

Timing Your Exit-CPA Firm Succession Planning

Knowing when the time is right is not always easy.  This column was one that we wrote for the AICPA and it was very well received.  If you are on the fence about timing, this column will serve as a checklist of sorts to help you think through all of the most relevant factors to consider.

10 Questions to Ask When Buying A CPA Practice

This is one of our all-time most read posts.  It was written in 2015.  Readers like it because it helps them consider the fundamental topics that need to be kept top-of-mind when first looking at a CPA practice for sale.  These 10 topics will help any buyer stay focused on what’s truly relevant to making successful buying decisions.

Group Coaching for Accountants in 2018

We are developing a group coaching workshop to be help quarterly in Charleston, SC beginning in May of 2018.  We have been working with a handful of one-on-one clients and the content for this workshop is something we are extremely excited about.  Our marketing partner is creating a formal roll-out of the workshop, so stay tuned.  For a limited time we are looking for a select few additional one-on-one clients.  The one-on-one will not be offered after January 31, 2018.  If interested in coaching, please let us know by going to our contact page.
