LEADERSHIP

BRANNON POE,
CPA, Founder
Brannon began facilitating successful accounting practice transitions in 2003. He pioneered a consulting-based approach to transitioning accounting firms, which has culminated in Poe Group Advisors’ unique process – The Seamless Succession™.

He started his career in public accounting as an auditor with Ernst & Young before working for several years in auditing and tax preparation for the regional firm of Elliott, Davis & Company. Subsequently, Brannon became a shareholder in a privately-held, family-owned business and a founding shareholder in a successful start-up manufacturing company. This breadth of experience — with companies large and small — has provided the foundation for Poe Group Advisors to become the industry service leader.

He is the author of “Accountant’s Flight Plan: Best Practices for Today’s Firms” (published by the AICPA and CPA Canada), “On Your Own: How to Start Your Own CPA Firm” and multiple blogs.

DARRYL BOYD,
Regional Market Leader
With 20 years of business and management experience, Darryl is an expert at integrating people and strategy, helping clients put their intentions and goals into motion to achieve results. He pays close attention to what clients think and do, and his approach builds bridges of understanding between people, ideas and strategic decisions.

Darryl worked in the financial services industry for more than 10 years before starting his own project management business. He has contracted in a variety of fields such as environmental recycling, marketing, media and software development. Before joining Poe Group Advisors, Darryl was a consultant for Costco Wholesale Canada, managing projects for their real estate division.

Darryl lives in Toronto, Ontario with his wife. In his spare time, he enjoys woodworking, studying ancient history and running.

RANDI VETVIK,
Market Leader – Québec
Randi began her career in insurance and banking, holding several management positions at a major Canadian consumer products manufacturer. She played an active role in the transition process after the company was acquired by an international conglomerate.

After ensuring a successful transition, Randi started her own luxury products business, leveraging her entrepreneurial savoir-faire to do everything from original product design to marketing, while managing all of the business’s operations.

Analytical and rigorous in her thinking, Randi employs a 360-degree view of a company and its stakeholders from both a global and detailed perspective. Her approach is that of a transaction facilitator. She listens carefully to the needs of both parties, intervening with nuance and integrity so the process is as harmonious and satisfactory as possible for all parties involved.

A believer in life-long learning, Randi is now writing her doctoral thesis on innovative accounting processes.

CATHERINE MEYER,
Operations Manager
After graduating in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing from James Madison University, Catherine quickly entered the financial industry, earning her Series 7 and 63 and Mortgage Origination Licenses. With experience in the stock market, mortgage industry and owning her own professional organizing company, Catherine has a unique set of skills in sales, marketing, operations and finance. She left the mortgage industry as a vice president mortgage banker in 2023 to work for Poe Group Advisors to pursue a new challenge.

Utilizing her knowledge in financial transactions, her knack for organizing and people skills, Catherine focuses on operations, talent and project management as well as strategy and planning for our team.

Catherine lives in downtown Charleston, SC where she enjoys spending time with her husband and beloved dogs, baking, teaching pilates and decorating their newly restored 1800s home. As a lover of all things food and culture, she also loves to travel and will never say “no” to an impromptu trip to Paris.

STEPHANIE SMITH,
Accounting Practice Intermediary
With over 12 years of proven sales and marketing experience in the banking sector, Stephanie brings a strong financial background to her position at Poe Group Advisors. This prior experience lending to and working with small business owners assists her as a skilled negotiator helping maximize value for both buyers and sellers.

Stephanie holds a bachelors degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. When not assisting a client, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her family, tennis, knitting and travel.

CARRIE MULROONEY,
CB, CPB, Accounting Practice Intermediary
Having built and sold their own nationally awarded bookkeeping and accounting practice, Carrie and her husband Sean can directly relate to those who are looking to grow or exit their practice. With more than 20 years in the industry, Carrie has a wealth of knowledge and expertise, offering a diverse perspective on traditional and cloud operations.

Carrie is an awarded relationship builder in the profession, with a passion of bringing people and businesses together. In 2018, Carrie was recognized as one of North America’s Top 50 Cloud Accountants and awarded as a Top 10 Canadian Bookkeeping Influencer.

Carrie lives in Kitchener, Ontario with her husband Sean and their two youngest children, however, coastal waters always draw them to Canada’s eastern shorelines in the summer!

SEAN MULROONEY,
Accounting Practice Intermediary
Sean boasts an entrepreneurial background of building businesses combined with
experience in corporate leadership, making him a spectrum of insight for those selling, buying or contemplating next steps for their business. With a designation in business continuity, he also provides direct value in the business transition process.

Having gone through the process of an acquisition with their own national bookkeeping and
accounting firm, Sean and his wife Carrie bring a true understanding of not only the process, but the concerns and needs of those embarking on selling or buying a practice.

Sean resides in Kitchener, Ontario with his wife Carrie and their two youngest children. In his
spare time, Sean enjoys cruising along back roads on his motorcycle and cooking up delicious meals with his BBQ and smoker collection.

COLLEEN HOGGARTH,
CPB, FCPB, Accounting Practice Intermediary
Colleen has been in the accounting and bookkeeping industry for more than 25 years, working in both public accounting and private industry. Her experience has ranged from being a corporate accountant for a large publicly traded real estate company to working with a small family-run business with shareholders located throughout North America. Upon moving to Victoria, BC from Peterborough, ON, she purchased a small book of bookkeeping and tax clients. After successfully growing the business from a one-person operation to a team of 10 over the past decade, Colleen was ready for her next major challenge. In 2021, Colleen worked with Poe Group Advisors to successfully sell her accounting practice.
Colleen is a Certified Professional Bookkeeper. She is considered a visionary in the bookkeeping industry and has received many civic, professional and business awards throughout her career.

Colleen has two adult children and lives in Victoria with her husband Andy. In her free time, she can be found in Winnipeg spending time with her granddaughter.

LAURENS BALL,
Regional Market Leader (Georgia, Louisiana & Tennessee)
With more than 10 years of experience in account management and business development experience, Laurens specializes in working with clients to reach their goals. She brings a passion for building strong, long term client relationships to the Poe Group Advisors team. Her holistic approach and exceptional service make the process simple and streamlined every step of the way. Laurens began her career in New York, working for a wholesale company, where she successfully grew her clients into multi-million dollar revenue streams in just four years. She then took her experience to startups, optimizing their business processes, including building strategic services, developing forecasting tools and implementing financial reports.

Laurens holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and enjoys living in New Orleans. When she is not working, she loves being active, listening to jazz music and traveling to new places.

CECIL DEMORRIS (MORRY) BROWN III,
Regional Market Leader (CA)
Morry brings many years of experience in the financial industry to the Poe Group team. He spent the first 15 years of his career as a stock analyst and during his tenure, worked with several global investment banks (including Goldman Sachs and Citigroup), primarily following the retail consumer sector. Morry’s expertise gained him frequent features on CNBC and in other publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Forbes and Barron’s.

Post-Wall Street, Morry founded a responsible investment app, allowing individual investors to easily invest in a customized ESG-driven portfolio. He has also provided outsourced CFO services to early-stage startups, assisting with fundraising, M&A advisory, pro forma financial projections and investor relations. Morry currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.

CAROL POE,
Buyer Specialist
With more than 10 years of bringing buyers and sellers together, Carol has an excellent knack for making a perfect match. Her process brings qualified buyers to the table so sellers can make easy decisions on who they would like to meet. Carol is the company’s “match maker”. She walks buyers through our process and always has our clients’ best interests at heart.

Carol is co-founder of Poe Group Advisors, wife of Brannon Poe and mother of three. She enjoys, cooking, reading and traveling.

BAILEY BALL,
Sales and Marketing Director
Bailey uses her skills in creative thinking and data analysis to help us implement marketing strategies, and communicate with sellers. She also assists with contract processing, scheduling and communication needs.

Bailey holds her bachelor’s degree in communication and her master’s in education from the College of Charleston. After graduating from CofC, Bailey gained experience in several sales roles and served with a commercial real-estate firm, assisting in marketing department. She later returned to school and became an elementary school teacher. Her varied background provides well-rounded skillset that strengthens the Poe Group team through exceptional people management and excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. In her free time, Bailey enjoys being active, crafting and spending time with friends and family.

MARGO BORSCHEWSKI,
Client Services Team
Trained as an early elementary school teacher, Margo spent several years teaching in a formal classroom setting, following which, she established her own home daycare. Now that her children are in their teen years, Margo has made the leap into the business world, joining Poe Group Advisors in 2018 as part of the Client Services Team. 

Margo lives in Osgoode, Ontario with her husband and three children. She enjoys the outdoors, creating decor items from reclaimed materials and performing with her local community musical group.

SHARON WOOD,
Client Services Team
From her career in dentistry and later serving as a stay-at-home mother of two, Sharon has an instinct for precision and organization. She has held numerous roles in administration and customer relations for a variety of small and medium-sized businesses, including not-for- profits. Sharon joined the Poe Group Advisors Client Services Team in early 2019.

In her down time, Sharon enjoys exploring nature, hiking, gardening (when Ottawa’s season permits) and reading a good biography.

IAN BRENNAN,
Creative Director
A graduate of Belmont University in Nashville where he studied film production, Ian has worked in the film industry for over six years. His ventures have taken him around the globe creating and sharing meaningful content, having pursued work with several companies producing documentaries in Los Angeles, animating for DreamWorks and even editing in Tokyo.

Ian first joined the Poe Group Advisors team after meeting Brannon Poe and hearing of their shared interest in the entrepreneurial spirit and the key drivers of success. Since joining the team, Ian has had a hand in helping set the foundation for Accounting Practice Academy through video and creative production, amongst many other projects for Poe Group Advisors as a whole.

AMANDA BLANTON,
Office Administrator
Amanda started her professional journey teaching pre-k in a formal classroom, following securing her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and her master’s in Early Childhood Development. After moving from North Carolina to South Carolina, she knew it was time for a career change and joined the Poe Group Advisors team. Amanda began serving as an office administrator with Poe Group in 2022, bringing her attention to detail and organizational skills to help our team and clients throughout the U.S. and Canada.

In her spare time, Amanda enjoys spending time outdoors, going on adventures with her dog, enjoying quality time with friends and family, and relaxing with a good book.
